Hazardous Materials Awareness

Course Objective: To provide students with the knowledge, skills and abilities to recognize a hazardous materials incident, take protective action, and request the appropriate response. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to recognize a hazardous materials incident, take protective action and request the appropriate response.

Course Description: Major topics coverd in this course include regulations, standards, and laws, as well as how to recognize and identify hazards. Methods of instruction include lecture and discussion.

Successful Completion: Students must attend required classroom sessions, complete all assigned online and classroom activities and homework assignments, demonstrate proficiency in the practical skills evolutions, and obtain a score of 70% or better on the final written and practical examinations. This course satisfies the professional certification requirements for Hazardous Materials Responder - Awareness.
